Brethren Dwelling in Unity

Greetings, all you Grissom Devotees.  Historic Downtown Grissom, North Carolina, is full of light this afternoon. It is a delectable delight and honor to be here, celebrating the return of Christ, our risen Lord.

 Church Behavior, Impulsive Penchant:
Churches can jump to conclusions.  It is easier to make a judgment than to beg current indecision, even as people all around press for a conclusion. But, sometimes no immediate conclusion is better. To honor God, we can speak with respectful reservation, deferring to the whole, admitting the presence and workings of the Spirit of God, in a priesthood of believers.

     For we are not here to build a man-centered church, an edifice that we esteem should last through the ages, as Christ could return this evening. Rather, we will invest not in any structure beyond the horizons we can see, preferring to send our capital, our rich teachings instilled in the hearts of our youth, away from us, to lands beyond our current vision, even to live in distinctly different neighborhoods just across the railroad tracks. For, we know the gospel of Jesus the Christ is up to any task, and will shine with a lovely, unique hue from within each venue where the seeds of a local church are sown.

Unity:

Psalm 133
1 A Song of Ascents; of David. {N}
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
2 It is like the precious oil upon the head, {N}
coming down upon the beard; even Aaron's beard, {N}
that cometh down upon the collar of his garments;
3 Like the dew of Hermon, that cometh down upon the mountains of Zion; {N}
for there the LORD commanded the blessing, {N}
even life for ever. {P}

Psalm 133: A Song of degrees of David.

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; as the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.
