Honor Thy Parents: Sine Qua Non ( "Without which not" )
AI Introduction:
A sine qua non is an absolute requirement or a necessary condition. Without it, a specific goal, result, or state of being is not possible. The term comes from Latin and literally means "without which not". [1, 2, 3, 4]Origins and Usage
- Origin: It started as an old legal term meaning an action or fact without which an event could not happen (often linked to "but-for" cause). [1, 2, 3]
It may be helpful to view your Mother and Father as the two Sine Qua Non agents God has most surely given unto you, to guide you throughout your life.
My father passed away in 2007 and my mother followed him in 2014. As part of my growth in the Spirit, throughout the years since, I have been steadily referred -- redirected -- to things my parents said to me and did for me and for others.
Their Christian character continues to become ever more clear and apparent to me. Neither ever had an accusation against them, though they stayed in the same town (Taylorsville, NC, of Alexander County, NC) from 1963 unto the end of their lives, serving the same rural population as Family Physician and high school English and French teacher.
You can get another soccer coach, maybe not as good as the one you recently lost. But, you cannot replace your parents. Parents are so important in guiding you through life that much volunteer prayer, time, and thought, go into helping to mitigate the gap when a child loses his parents. And whole industries are built up to fill that "almost god-sized hole" when you lose a parent. Psychological counseling reaps big bucks on it, and therein lacks incentive to entirely "heal" you from your loss, lest they work themselves out of a job.

God created us male and female not without reason, as in merely on a "whim," nor in recognition of (or worse, obedience unto) some inherent set of rules or constraints within the universe dictating some inexorable optimal evolutionary fitness requirements, but as an integral part of His design for that pinnacle of creation, Man (with the unified couple, two-in-one-flesh, being the clearest depiction of our being made in His image). God is a Trinity, three persons sharing one essence. I am not a trinity. But, when I was bonded to my wife, I gained an uncanny, indescribable improved understanding of the Character of God and the essence of His being. It is in relation. God was never lonely, did not need to create man, which makes it all the more glorious for Him to have elected to have done so, knowing in advance that He would have to sacrifice His only begotten Son so that we could be redeemed in His righteousness.
